Date:      Saturday 4th July 2009, 12 noon - 6 pm

Venue:   Queen's Park, Chesterfield

We are hosting a family fun day in Queen's Park, our town centre park, which will be a community event put on by ourselves with the involvement of the police, other local community organisations and other churches .

We have a 7.5 ton stage truck booked which opens out into a stage with lighting/sound.  During the afternoon the staged entertainment will include:

Freestylerz dance troupe; a group of young people from a church in Nottingham who recently auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent.

Know the Truth: a Rap duo from Nottingham.

Collective – a Christian girl band rather like Girls Aloud but with clothes! They currently work in schools in the south-west taking lessons/assemblies and using dance and music to put across positive life choices to young people. They work within the National Curriculum to deal with issues of alcohol/smoking/drugs/sex/bullying.  Last year they had a very successful week in Parkside School and are hoping to return in the week prior to this event.

Prizes – five-a-side football will be taking place during the afternoon using the leisure centre all weather pitch, with a presentation on stage at the end of the day for things like best goal and player of the afternoon.

We also have other stalls and activities including food stalls, a climbing wall, NEOS

(giant interactive computer game), inflatables, dance workshops, an illusionist and face

painting, to name a few.

Amongst the community groups and organisations represented will be the Police through the Chesterfield South Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Fire Service with a fire engine.

Entry to the event will be free.

See you there!
