The aim, we pray, will be the start of long-term outreach rather than being involved in 'hit and run' evangelism. At the heart of it, we believe, is a conviction that people in our community need not just to hear about Jesus but to see the impact He is making among the community of His people, not just for one week of the year, but in the every-day of every day! And so we are trying to bring together how we can make an impact for the gospel by hosting a number of events over a period of a week whilst building on the activities with which we are already involved throughout the year. We are looking for a week that is action-packed, cutting-edge, wide reaching and, most importantly, for it to be all about our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ. |

Other Organisations
|
We believe it is important, where possible, to link up with the local authorities and other organisations when looking at what we can practically do to make an impact in our community. We have already begun conversations with Councillor Keith Morgan, who is excited about the possibilities of the church and other community organisations working alongside each other. We are also building a relationship with PC Dave Randell, the Walton & West Beat Officer and part of the South Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhoods Team. His key areas of work in the neighbourhood all relate to tackling anti-social behaviour, largely in Somersall Park and by the shops outside the church. With his help we are looking at ways to engage teenagers in activities that will not just distract them from drinking but, as a church, to encourage them to realise that there are positive life choices that can be made. We also want to show them Jesus' love for them - when so many are intimidated by the groups that gather.
As a church we are also looking to organise some litter picks in Somersall Park and surrounding areas.

| Schools |
We are really excited to have been given permission for Nikki Twigg and the girls from Collective South West to go into Parkside School during this week. It fits in perfectly with the schools plan for the term. Collective will take lessons such as drama, RE and PE - designed to share how to make positive life choices. The teachers involved are thrilled to have the girls go in. On the final evening there will be a concert where they will perform their songs and share the gospel through their testimonies.
